The Preliminary Judgment of the Final Session of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal on State Crimes Allegedly Committed in Myanmar against the Kachin, Rohingyas and Other Myanmar Muslims, which took place 18-22 September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is available here.
The seven-member Panel of Judges found by consensus ruling that the State of Myanmar has committed the following crimes:
- War Crimes perpretrated against the Kachin people
- Crimes Against Humanity against the Rohingya, other Muslim civilian populations in Myanmar and the Kachin
- Genocide against the Rohingya group
Further, the Panel found that the State of Myanmar has the general intent to commit genocide against the Kachin people and other Myanmar Muslims.
Hearings took place over three days, with 11 expert testimonies presented as well as 16 fact witnesses (including 9 direct victims). In addition, over 1,000 pages of documentation were submitted by the Prosecution in evidence, including notarised testimony from 35 additional witnesses and over 30 minutes of audio-video footage.
