DOWNLOAD THE AGENDA OF THE EVENT
The public hearings of the 57° session of the PPT will be held from May 25 to 29, 2026, at the Daphne Art Centre in Montreal, Quebec. The request for the session was made by the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal (NWSM) supported by Future Generations Foundation, David Suzuki Foundation, Know History, JFK Law LLP, Aboriginal Legal Services e il daphne art centre, to open an investigation into alleged crimes against humanity and genocide committed against Indigenous children in the Canadian Indian Residential Schools system, from their establishment and consolidation until their dismantling in the 1990s. This request was also motivated by recent investigations that uncovered unmarked graves at former residential school sites across Canada, revealing the extent of the phenomenon. The requesting organisations argue that the Canadian government has failed to deliver justice, truth and reconciliation to Indigenous communities for the atrocities committed against their children, despite the efforts of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission between 2008 and 2015.
The PPT has selected the Panel of Judges who will examine the evidence relating to the disappearance of Canadian Indigenous children and their unmarked graves in Canada, paying particular atten.tion to the impact of these violations on communities today.
