The 54° session of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT) will be held on 5-6 February 2025 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Brussels, Belgium, to examine allegations of severe human rights violations and war crimes committed by Turkey and its allied forces in North and East Syria, known as Rojava. The Tribunal will examine charges including forced displacement, use of prohibited weapons, targeted assassinations and massacres, torture, manipulation of vital resources and the destruction of cultural and religious heritage.

This session is requested and supported by the Committee for Justice and Law and the Department of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), the Research and Protection Centre for Women’s Rights, the Human Rights Organizations in Al-Jazira and Afrin, as well as MAF-DAD e.V (Association for Democracy and International Law), ELDH (European Association of Lawyers for Democracy & World Human Rights), IADL (International Association of Democratic Lawers), the KNK (Kurdistan National Congress), the Kurdish Institute of Brussels and the Free University of Brussels (VUB). Numerous other organizations dedicated to documentation and advocacy within the region have contributed to assembling the evidence to be presented to the PPT panel of judges, integrated by, in alphabetical order: Giacinto Bisogni, Domenico Gallo, José Elías Esteve Molto, Czarina Golda S. Musni, Gabrielle Lefèvre, Rashida Manjoo e Frances Webber (the short bios of the judges).
